The common cold is most definitely an annoyance for many of us as it tends to bring us down at least twice a year. It's quite a pain and inconvenience to everyone.
A cold happens due to the fact that a variety of viruses can trigger it. Cold germs are difficult to us to escape as they tend to survive for longer periods on hard surfaces (non porous) such as keyboards, work surfaces and door handles. Our indoor surfaces can be a home for cold germs to linger for days, but thankfully most can't stay infectious past a 24 hour period. It's probably no surprise to you that cold viruses can also thrive on the skin. Although this is worrying, our skin isn't the best place for them to survive as they can only stay infectious for a few minutes to hours. As long as your keep clean and wash your hands regularly, you will be able to avoid the common cold for longer periods.
